Champa Devi which is located to the south of Kathmandu city is one of the wonderful hills situated near Kathmandu valley perfect for a short hiking near the area of Kathmandu valley.
Champa Devi is a sacred city which is regarded as the center of their religion by many Hindus and lots of worships and offerings are performed there. This short hike not only lets you be familiar with the nature but also with different cultural habitants as well as different monasteries, temples etc. The pine trees along the trails provide one of the most magnificent scenarios you would like to enjoy during your hiking.
On reaching Champadevi; you can also observe the view of different mountain ranges including Langtang, Gauri Shankar, Jugal, Dorge Lakpa etc.
If you are short on time or you are not looking for a longer trek in Nepal but you would still like to stretch your legs in some lovely scenery and walk through some fascinating villages to interact with the local people, the Kathmandu Valley offers a variety of superb short trekking routes. These hikes offer fresh air and the stillness of rural settings along with some magnificent views of the Himalayas. Champa Devi is located to the south of Kathmandu and it is a perfect place for a short hike.
Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu
On arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, a member of Approved Holidays will be there to warmly welcome you for your transfer to a selected hotel in Kathmandu. Depending on your arrival and time permitting there is a short guided tour of the local markets for those interested. In the evening a meal at a traditional local restaurant is provided where we have a chance to go through your tour in more detail and answer any questions you may have. Overnight Kathmandu.
Day 2: Mountain flight and Kathmandu valley sightseeing
Early morning we take one of the most dramatic flights in the world. Before breakfast we make the transfer to the domestic airport for a flight right to the base of Mount Everest. A flight that is likely to be one of the most memorable you have ever taken or likely to take. There is plenty of time to witness these dramatic peaks in all their glory, take photos and sit in awe of the highest mountain range in the world. We return to our hotel for a leisurely before taking a sightseeing tour of the Kathmandu Valley. Kathmandu with its rich cultural heritage provides numerous places of exceptional interest; we visit Kathmandu Durbar Square (Kings palace square) a complex of beautiful temples and shrines, Swayambhunath, one of the oldest temples in Kathmandu for Buddhists, Pashupatinath Temple one of the most revered holy cremation places for Hindus around the world and famous also for its pagoda style architecture. We also visit Boudhanath one of the largest of stupas in the world and the center of Buddhist faith in the valley. Overnight Kathmandu.
Day 3: Hiking day (Pharping, Champadevi and Khokana)
Soon after breakfast we drive to Pharping, situated around two hour’s from Kathmandu, it is an area rich in Buddhism with many monasteries and Buddhist stupas. We have time to look around here before commencing our hike to the summit of Champadevi, the highest hill that surrounds the valley. From Champadevi we walk down to old small town of Khokana through a beautiful pine forest. The views of the Himalayas from Champadevi are outstanding and there is a lot of wildlife and birdlife along the way. From Khokana our bus awaits to take us back to Kathmandu via the old town of Kirtipur. Kirtipur is famous for the stand it made against the king centuries before. A settlement steeped in history that played a vital role during the unification of Nepal in the 17th Century. In the evening there is a farewell meal. Overnight Kathmandu.
Day 4: Departure
Depending on your departure time our representative will be there to wish you a fond farewell and safe journey with a wish to see you back again with us in the future before the transfer to Tribhuwan International Airport for departure to your onward destination. .
