Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Welcome to Nepal. The representative of Approved Holidays receives you at the airport and transfers you to the hotel. After a rest, a short briefing will be done about the activities on the following days. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 02: Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square and Pashupatinath temple - B
After the breakfast at the hotel, we set out for the tour of Kathmandu Durbar Square, which is also known as an open museum is rich in stone and wooden architectures. During the tour, you get various attractions. Trailokya Mohan Narayan Temple, Hanuman statue, Basantapur Tower, Kalbhairav, Ashok Vinayak, Taleju Temple, established in 1564, Kotilingeshwara Mahadev Temple and Courtyard of Kumari Bahal, are the major highlights. Then we visit the Pashupatinath temple, a new impression about this amazing pagoda shrine, surrounding temples, crematory site, and others allure you. It is regarded as the most significant pilgrimage destination for the Hindu devotees around the world. Then drive back to the hotel.
Day 03: Kathmandu - Lhasa – 3650m – B.L.D
You fly to Lhasa today. When you arrive at Lhasa airport, our company representative will welcome you to Tibet and transfer you to hotel. As you fly out from Kathmandu, Nepal to Lhasa, Tibet you can experience the joy of the trans-Himalayan flight that takes you over the mighty Himalayan range. After the spectacular Himalayan flight, you will breathe fresh air at the high altitude of around 3,650 meters above sea level. As it’s the arrival day, no activities have been planned for today. You will have time to relax and adjust with the high altitude on your own.
Day 03: Lhasa Exploration Day – B.L.D
We are ready to explore the wonders of Lhasa city. A visit to the iconic Potala Palace is an insightful exploration of this wonderful residence of the Dalai Lama the 14th. It was his residence until the 1959 uprising that forced him to leave the country and live in exile in India. It has been converted into a museum and listed as a world heritage site.
After exploring the Potala Palace, we visit Norbulinka that served as the summer residence of the Dalai Lamas in Tibet. A huge area covered by the palace has the largest man-made park in Tibet. The grandeur of Norbulingka and the park adds to the awesomeness of the day in Lhasa.
Day 04: Lhasa Exploration Day – B.L.D
We are still exploring the parts of Lhasa today as we allow ourselves to well acclimatize before we head further towards higher elevation. We visit Buddhist monasteries in and around Lhasa city. Visit the Sera Monastery and Jokhang Temple show us incredible Buddhist wonders. These historical monasteries are considered of very important value with religious and spiritual treasures.
Later in the afternoon, after finishing the exploration of the monasteries, we visit Barkhor market and walk around for some time before we return back to our hotel.
Day 05: Lhasa – Gyantse – 3950m – B.L.D
We leave Lhasa today to go to Gyantse. About six hours of the drive takes us to Gyantse about 260 kilometers far from Lhasa. The drive along the Tibetan highway has spectacular sceneries to enjoy. We pass over two high mountain passes and go over 5,000 meters above sea level on wheels. Kora La that stands at 5,010m and Kamba La that stands and 4,794m above sea level have stunning views. Before reaching Gyantse, we also get to see the fascinating Yamadroke lake along the way.
Day 06: Gyantse – Xigatse – 3900m – B.L.D
We have a wonderful half day Gyantse tour set today after breakfast. To immerse into the spiritual vibrations of the places, we are going to explore some Buddhist monasteries where we get some insights about the practice of Buddhism and its rituals here in Gyantse. Later on, after the tour finishes, we drive to Xigatse leaving Gyantse behind. About 90 kilometers of the stretch today allows us to enjoy some spectacular landscape and sceneries.
Day 07: Xigatse – Shegar – 4050m – B.L.D
It’s another long day drive today that takes us to Shegar. We, again, drive over a high pass called Gyatso La pass that stands at 5,220 meters above sea level. About 245 kilometers of the highway stretch is full of beautiful scenic wonders that make our long drive feel less tiring. We are going to spend our night at the elevation of 4,050 meters above sea level at Shegar.
Day 08: Shegar – Rongbuk 4920m – B.L.D
As we move ahead closer towards the Everest base camp each day, we are gaining elevation to spend overnight at. When we drive and reach Rongbuk today, we will be at the elevation of 4,920 meters above sea level. We can enjoy spectacular views of wonderful high elevation landscapes along the drive before reaching the destination. The drive today also involves a drive over Pang La pass. Stunning view of the Mt. Everest, weather permitting, for the first time on the trip, is awaiting us today.
Day 09: Rongbuk – Everest Base Camp 5250m – Shegar – B.L.D
Today, we are going to experience the highlight of the trip as we reach the iconic Everest Base Camp. The journey to the base of the highest mountain in the world today brings us impressive views of several high towering and snow-capped mountains like Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Makalu in addition to the Mt. Everest. The moment at the base camp is filled with wonderful memories that we will keep forever.
After we spend some wonderful moments exploring the magical surrounding at the Everest base camp, we set off on our drive back to Shegar.
Day 10: Shegar – Lhasa – B.L.D
We trace the same highway, which we had taken to go to Everest base camp, back to Lhasa today. We celebrate the accomplishment of reaching the base of the highest mountain in the world. A flashback on the journey that we took to the EBC a few days earlier will make our celebration even more lively.
Day 11: Lhasa – Kathmandu – B.D
You fly back to Kathmandu today. On your arrival to Kathmandu, we will pick you up and transfer you to hotel. Once in Kathmandu, you have free time to spend at leisure in the chaos of the city after so many days of serene mountain air and incredible adventure in Tibet and Everest Base Camp.
Day 12: See You Again – B
As the last day on this trip, we drive you to the airport as per your flight schedule back to home or onward destination.
