Day 01-02: Kathmandu
We meet in Kathmandu on the evening of day one at our hotel if people require transfers from the airport one of our representatives will meet you and transfer. An evening meal in a traditional Nepalese restaurant is arranged for the group, a chance to get to know each other. The next day we begin early with a visit to the Monkey Temple (Swayambunath) at sunrise to spend time with Tibetan monks and pilgrims as they go about their daily religious tasks. From Swayambunath we travel on to the Hindu temple and holy men of Pashupatinath. This is a remarkable place of ancient rituals and a unique place to discuss photography techniques. In the afternoon we head deep into the old market district of Ason full of color and vigor and on to Kathmandu’s Durbar Square. The streets along the way are alive with vendors and buyers. By the end of the day, we will have immersed in Kathmandu culture and hopefully some ideas for our photographic exploration ahead.
Day 03: Bhaktapur
Bhaktapur is a very special place and a photographers dream, it was once one of the kingdoms in the Kathmandu Valley. Named “The City of Devotees” Bhaktapur still retains its medieval charm here we have a chance to explore the alleyways and the stunning Newari architecture in the late afternoon and early morning light. The past glory of the Malla rulers is very much reflected here while traditional industries of pottery and weaving also provide great photo opportunities. At dusk and dawn, the streets fill with local produce vendors selling their goods to residents that provide wonderful subjects for our photography. Overnight hotel
Day 04: Bandipur
Today we leave the valley behind and head west out of the Kathmandu Valley for a drive into the hills that eventually lead to Pokhara. Bandipur is a pretty hill-top town at the end of a winding switchback road. The local people are Newari (traditional Nepali inhabitants) and the craftwork of the residents is reflected this. We have a boutique hotel for the night and some time in the evening to check and share our digital images. The traditional old town with plenty of photo opportunities. Overnight hotel
Day 05: Pokhara
A two hour drive late morning to arrive in Pokhara for lunchtime. Pokhara is our base for preparing for the Annapurnas ahead, and we make arrangements to ensure all travelers have snug sleeping bags and a chance to shop for any extra warm clothing and snacks for the mountains. There are also some stunning views of the dramatic peaks that surround Pokhara including the holy mountain Machhapuchhre, The Fish Tail Peak.

These few days also help us to adjust to the mountain air and altitude. The pace is easy for these two days are however there are opportunities for short hikes for those who want to stretch their legs. Accommodation for these two days is clean but simple, taking advantage of some local guesthouses that offer good food and great access to photographic inspiration. Overnight guest Houses
